I’ve been living in Thailand for two years now. Unfortunately, it took me longer than normal to get my Thai radio license. Therefore, I’ve only been operating on the air for a little more than a year. I installed a tri-band dipole that is tuned for 10m, 15m, and 20m. And it resonates well on those bands.
I have a RigExpert AA-30 antenna analyzer. This analyzer typically displays SWR up to about 13:1. Any bands other than 10/15/20m simply displays as ∞. This means that the SWR ≥ 13:1. For the past year, I’ve just used the antenna as is. After getting these results, I never attempted to get the antenna to tune on any other bands. I assumed it wouldn’t tune.
That was until a couple of weeks ago. I decided to dust off my LDG Z-11ProII that was sitting on the shelf and see if there was a slim chance it would tune any other bands. Low and behold, it tuned 40m! Check out the video below to see it in action.
